Discover local businesses at Expo

Check out dozens of local businesses in one location at Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce’s Expo, Thursday, 5-8 p.m. at Clarkston High School.
‘Business fuels the local economic engine ? the Expo allows our businesses to showcase and communicate what we do and to look for potential customers, clients, and partnership referrals,? said Sue Fryer, Expo chair.
‘We have a lot of new businesses this year, and lots of fun, exciting displays,? said Angie Logan, committee member.
The popular scavenger hunt is back, offering Detroit Red Wings tickets as prizes. Visitors receive a card with 10 questions about local businesses. They find the answers throughout the Expo by talking to business representatives at their exhibits.
‘It’s a great way to meet and great people,? Logan said. ‘It encourages consumers to visit the booths and ask people about their businesses.?
The chamber’s silent auction offers an autographed Richard Hamilton Detroit Piston’s jersey, gift baskets and certificates, and other items and packages.
‘Lots of cool stuff,? said Penny Shanks, chamber executive director. ‘People can find some good deals, nice items to give as gifts.?
Community organizations will be on hand to provide information about their projects and how to help, she said.
‘It’s a great place to learn about the community,? Logan said.
Planning started in August, organizing corporate sponsors and volunteers. Clarkston High School’s Team RUSH robotics team will help venders with their equipment, and culinary students from Oakland Technical Center ? Northwest will prepare hors d’oeuvres and desserts.
‘They have a great time,? she said. ?(OTC students) walk all through the expo, all dressed up in their great attire, offering so many great things. It’s delicious.?
‘My favorites are the bite-size desserts, carrot cake and meringue,? Shanks said. ‘They’re to die for.?
