The Lake Orion Downtown Development Authority is announced that they will be hosting the Detroit Institute of Arts Inside/Out art installation.
From April 15 – July 15, visitors and residents will be able to stroll throughout Downtown Lake Orion and view weatherproof reproductions of some of the DIA’s original collections.
There will be between 11 and 12 pieces of art that will spread from the Paint Creek Trail all the way to Village Hall.
While the art will be available to view, tours will only be given during the Flower Fair on May 10 and 11. Also during the Flower Fair, the DIA will host an art workshop right here in Lake Orion.
Not only is this the perfect opportunity for a fun family outing, but it is also a great opportunity for students to get out of the classroom and learn as well, said DDA Executive Director Molly LaLone.
“I want to put out an open invitation to school teachers,” said LaLone. “School teachers, if you would like to bring your classroom for the DIA Inside/Out art walk, I would love to host you…One of the best things about having the art from the DIA here is that we can show it to everyone and I think a great place to start art appreciation is in the classroom.”
For additional information or if you are a teacher who is interested in bringing your class on the art walk, please call the DDA office at 248-693-9742. Be sure to check out their event page for updates at www.downtownlakeorion.org/events.
