Development moves forward

Brandon Twp.-Construction of the Long Lake Village northwest of Seymour Lake Road near M-15 moved one step closer last month.
Despite some concerns from residents, the 94-home development received site plan approval from the township planning commission Aug. 24. In October, excavation began on the project which Steve Robinson, executive vice president of Silverman Companies says should be completed in spring.
‘We are in the process of finalizing engineering and permits. The clearing along M-15 is for the surveyors to begin work.
‘Homes will be constructed over the next few years; some lots will be wooded with open spaces’preservation of the wetland is a main design feature, within the natural features of the property.?
‘The plans also include some type of commercial area along M-15 consistent with the community.
Silverman Development of Bingham Farms, Mich. first approached the township more than two years ago proposing a multiple-dwelling development, but because there are no sewers the project was reduced to single-family homes with plans for a contained wastewater treatment facility.
In addition Silverman has received approval from the Department of Environmental Quality on the development plan, the placement and engineering plan for a wastewater treatment facility, which is designed with a capacity to accommodate future plans for a plaza-type development on adjacent property, and approval of the potable water supply source system.
The project should be completed in a few months with homes on 1/4-acre sites and prices about $350,000.
