Deputies seek Goodrich sign vandals

Goodrich-The Genesee County Sheriff’s Department is asking area residents to help find the vandals responsible for spray painting graffiti on village signs.
‘On three occasions this summer our signs were painted,? said Jakki Sidge, village manager. ‘It appears to be the same vandal’the initials painted on the sign were, ‘GVS.? The damage has been in several different areas in the village, and since it’s occurred outside the downtown area we assume the individual must be able to drive.?
Sidge said the vandals have hit signs on Dutch and Ridge roads, along with Janaroy Court signs over the past two weeks. In addition, signs were also vandalized during the construction project on Hegel Road.
Genesee County Sheriff Sgt. Joe Parks said the vandalism is very serious.
‘We are investigating this crime and are out in the community asking a lot of questions,? said Parks. ‘We’ll have deputies in the school the first day students are back. This act has defaced the community, it’s more than the value of the signs. Someone will come forward and identify these individuals.?
Parks said the initials ‘GVS? are key in solving the crime.
‘We don’t believe it’s gang related; right now we are unaware of just what these letters stand for.?
Anyone with details regarding the case should call 810-636-2570.
