DDA hosts decoration contest for businesses

Downtown Lake Orion has been filled with ‘holiday treats? lately as the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) sponsored a decorating contest.
The contest featured four-foot tall gingerbread persons that individual businesses customized.
Prizes were awarded in four different categories: best gingerbread person, best interior decoration, best storefront decoration and best overall. The judging panel of Lori Wilkins, Macy’s Display Manager; Reggie Harrison, Orion Art Center Executive Director; and Matt Asta, Hollywood Markets Store Manager, judged the decorations and awarded winners.
Steve Auger & Associates walked away with the award for best gingerbread person, while Cutting Edge Salon clinched the title of best interior decoration and Lucky’s Natural Foods took home best storefront decoration. The big winner was Abacus Accounting as they were awarded for best overall decoration.
Each of the four businesses were awarded a $50 gift certificate, good at participating downtown businesses, as well as the best overall winner receiving an advertising package from The Lake Orion Review, and their name on the coveted Santa trophy.
