Dawn has come for young diamond stars

The Independence Township Parks and Recreation Youth Baseball/Softball 2005 season drew to a close the week of July 18 and organizers feel it was a success.
Nearly 1,000 boys and girls age five-18 filled 69 team rosters in 11 different leagues.
The opening day parade at Clintonwood Park on June 4 marked the beginning of the season. Over the course of two months the teams played a 12-game schedule.
Congratulations to the following first and second place teams: Clarkston Burger King coached by Gary Jbara, first place in Girls 12 and under; LogoFit coached by Alyce Drews, second place in Girls 12 and under; Chase Plastics coached by Mark Giroux, first place in Boys 11-12; Maple Roofing and Construction coached by Ken Micovich, second place in Boys 11-12; Edward Jones coached by Craig Fuller, first place in Boys 13-14; and S&L Autobody coached by Mark Karrick, second place in Boys 13-14.Congratulations to the rest of the teams for participating in such a great season.
The staff of The Clarkston News also has a special place in their hearts for the diminutive sluggers who upheld the paper’s good name with their hustle and grit all season long.
