Attention avid quilters!
Fill up your gas tanks and get your passports ready for the 8th Annual Michigan Stash Dash, which will have a special stop at Oxford’s Aunt Nan’s Fabrics this year.
The Stash Dash is a scavenger-type race for those who love to quilt.
With their $10 ‘passport? in hand and a pin on their shirt, stash-dashers have to visit nine specified quilting stores in Michigan.
Stores include Aunt Nan’s in Oxford, as well as stores in Jackson, Port Huron, East Lansing, Saline, Wayne, South Lyon, Sterling Heights and Richmond.
At each store the stash-dashers will collect a charm for their pins, as well as be encouraged to purchase kits to create various quilts on display.
The Stash Dash will take place Thursday and Friday, from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Aunt Nan’s is new to the Stash Dash this year, and owner Diana Griggs said she expects to see over 500 people stopping at her store over the next three days.
Grigg’s sold at least 30 ‘passports,? which has information about all the stores, to quilters in Oxford so far.
‘I believe over 90 percent of the people that will be in Oxford probably will never have been here before,? she said. ‘I think it’s a great opportunity. We’re in a good (location) to draw a lot of people in.?
Victoria’s Delights will also be setting up a ‘cafe? behind the store to serve sandwiches and ice cream to the stash-dashers.
Aunt Nan’s is located at 40 S. Washington St. Call them at (248) 628-5610 or visit www.michiganstashdash.com. Passports can be purchased at the store.
