Culver’s host First Annual Poker Cruise, June 16

You want to cruise into businesses up and down Lapeer Road with the potential to win cash prizes? Then get over to Culver’s this Saturday.
In conjunction with the Lapeer Road Country Cruise on June 16 from noon to 9 p.m., Culver’s is holding its First Annual Classic Car Poker Run Cruise from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
‘Cruisers are going to be out, so I thought this would help enhance the Lapeer group,? said Culver’s Owner Joe Zimmer.
Cruisers can either register at Culver’s in Lake Orion or at Roadside Attraction in Metamora. Registration is $5, but Cruisers will receive a $5 gift certificate to Culver’s in return. At registration they will be given an envelope with their registration number on it and a poker card inside. As cruisers visit each of the 10 businesses they will show their registration number, sign in and receive another poker card. They have until 5 p.m. to visit all 10 businesses.
‘Yellow signs will be out in front of each business that is part of the poker run,? noted Zimmer.
Poker run stops include Culver’s, Golling GMC, O’Reilly, Buffalo Wild Wings, Auto Works of Oxford, Oxford Tap, White Horse Inn, Roadside Attraction, 4 M Collision and Advance Auto Parts of Lake Orion. Winners of the poker run will be announced at 5:45 at Culver’s.
‘We’re giving out $500 to the best poker hand and four other cash prizes totaling over $1,000,? Zimmer said. ‘Also if cruisers eat here at Culver’s they get 15 percent off.?
Also throughout the day at Culver’s will be live music and entertainment including the Johnny Awesome Band and a group of local girls called ‘The True.?
‘The True? is just an awesome group of local singers from the area,? Zimmer said. I’ll have Johnny Awesome as the Master of Ceremonies and he’ll be playing 50’s and 60’s tunes. There will also be a girl on Roller Skates handing out free samples of custard.?
All proceeds from the Culver’s Cruise will be given to the Orion Veterans Memorial on Lapeer Road.

Zimmer said they are welcoming anybody who wants to be a part of the cruise may participate. He also expects anywhere up to 500 cars because he’s had a lot of interest.
‘It’s going to be a fun event,? he said. ‘I hope we can raise money for the memorial.?
