Ortonville -Organizer of the June 12 Ortonville Creekfest event Lois Robbins said there were more people working on committees for the second annual River Day event than last year, which she says is a good sign that attendance will be up at the Kearsley Creek celebration.
The day brings attention to the Kearsley Creek, a designated trout stream and headwater to the Flint River.
Among several new events this year is a tethered balloon ride to provide a hawk’s eye view of the river banks and hunting areas as well as a ‘creek wade? and a plant identification walk. .
CreekFest is a tool to educate people on the importance of Kearsley Creek’s headwater connection and is a part of the Brandon Township Phase II Stormwater Management Initiative.
Attendees will have plenty of access to information on how to keep waterways and clean drinking water.
Prizes will be given throughout the day, including prizes for catching the biggest fish.
