Traffic flow on S. Washington was interrupted slightly on Friday afternoon after a two-car crash sent one person to the hospital.
A 41-year-old Mayville man driving a 1992 Chevy pickup truck stopped quickly in the inner southbound lane at Broadway St. when a vehicle in front of him was turning left.
That’s when a 16-year-old Oxford boy driving a 1996 Ford Escort rear-ended him.
The Oxford teen had four passengers in the vehicle at the time, and one 14-year-old boy was treated by the Oxford Fire Department and AMR for a bloody nose. He was then transported to Crittenton Hospital for further evaluation. No others were hurt in the crash.
The driver of the Escort was issued a citation for failing to stop in an assured distance.
