An ex-Detroit Lions football player and current Clarkston resident made quite a fumble Friday night, landing himself in the Oakland County Jail.
Juan Armando Roque, 28, who was an offensive lineman for the Lions from 1997 to 1999, was arrested Jan. 31 for carrying a concealed weapon, operating under the influence of liquor and felonious assault, said Detective Lonnie Mullins, of the Independence Township substation of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department.
A Clarkston couple, who was driving along Dixie Highway in their van with their six-month-old and six-year-old children, alleges a man, later identified as Roque, pulled up in a black Suburban along the right side of their vehicle and pointed a gun at them, before he pulled into the Taco Bell parking lot at approximately 10:15 p.m.
The couple stopped into the substation to report the incident immediately after.
Deputies, as well as Clarkston police officers who assisted, found the matched vehicle description in the drive-thru of the fast food restaurant. Roque, who was intoxicated, had a black 380 handgun setting on the Suburban’s center console, Mullins said.
Roque was arraigned at the Oakland County Circuit Court on Saturday, Feb. 1 on two counts of assault with a damaging weapon, two counts of possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, one count carrying a concealed weapon, one count of operating under the influence of liquor and one count of possession of a firearm under the influence.
A bond was set at $50,000 cash or 10 percent. An exam date has not been set as of yet, but Mullins said one should be scheduled within 14 days of the arraignment and will be held at the 52-2 District Court in Clarkston.
