Robert “Bob” H. Cooney; born September 25, 1925, passed away September 5, 2019, just 20 days shy of turning 94-years-old. Bob is the beloved husband of the late Joyce; loving father of Cathy (Charles) Trombley, Thomas (Nancy) Cooney and the late Randy; grandfather of Jason (Nikki), Ryan, Adam (Lisa), Christina (Duncan) Purvis, and Alex & Austin; and great-grandfather of Madisyn & Kennedy Kerby, Caleb & Nolan Trombley, Eden & Anniston Trombley, & Avalee, Carter & Charlie Purvis.
Bob was a snowbird who lived in Lake Orion, MI & North Fort Myers, FL. He & Joyce raised their children in St. Clair Shores. His greatest riches were his family & friends. He was a WWII vet in the Blackhawks Infantry. He enjoyed his working years in insurance at State Farm. He was lucky to travel quite a bit. He lived a good, full life and was a man of deep faith.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from 4- 8 p.m. with Masonic service at 7 p.m. at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, 111 E. Flint Street, downtown Lake Orion, with funeral service on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at 11 a.m. (in state at 10 a.m.) with military honor service followed by a luncheon at Lake Orion United Methodist Church, 140 E. Flint Street, downtown Lake Orion.
Memorial contributions to Good Shepherd Methodist Church in North Fort Myers, FL & Lake Orion United Methodist Church. Interment Oakview Cemetery Royal Oak, MI.
