Pelton’s Point will be the new home of Orion Pointe Condominiums.
The Lake Orion Village Council voted 5-1 to approve the Final Planned Unit Development (PUD) at Monday’s meeting. Council member Douglas Dendel supplied the one nay vote, saying he didn’t think this was something the public would go for.
Dendel said that the project was too large for the area, that it is not the kind of development to have around the lake and that he didn’t think it was fair to the residents here.
He also expressed that parking was not suitable for a project of this size and that he didn’t agree with ‘giving up village land.?
The project would include a small portion of village property that would be used as drive/roadway, which is its current use. According to Village Manager JoAnn Van Tassel, the village would not be giving anything way and the developer would be paving and upgrading that area.
The topic was open to discussion and public comment. One individual was on hand to speak, but ended up declining to do so.
Orion Pointe Condominiums will include a two-story medical/professional office, a residential building consisting of four attached units and a marina of 16 slips and 25 feet of broadside dockage.
This project will occur at Pelton’s Point, which is on the west side of M-24 (Lapeer Road), just south of Green’s Park.
