Brandon’s coed varsity swimming team recently showed a couple of non-league foes how far they’ve come in their first season.
The host Blackhawks defeated Clawson 82-16 and Milford 57-45 in a double dual meet Feb. 8, capturing six of 12 events, including all three relay events.
Brandon’s 200 yard medley relay team started out on the right foot, as the team of Tyler Walls, Tyson Delandsheer, Tyler Cole, and Joshua Collier finished first in 2:07.51.
Milford’s Isaac Bannasch captured the 200 yard freestyle, but Delandsheer answered for Brandon by winning the 200 yard individual medley in 2:35.69.
However, Milford proved to be a formidable foe at the meet, winning the 50 yard freestyle, diving, and 100 yard butterfly events.
Cole took first place in the 100 yard freestyle (58.22), and was part of the 200 yard freestyle relay team (along with Clayton Carpenter, Joshua Collier, and Brad MacIntrye) that won that event in 1:48.40.
Delandsheer captured his second solo event of the evening, the 100 yard breaststroke (1:14.47), and was part of the 400 yard freestyle relay team (along with MacIntyre, Cole and Carpenter), which won their event in 4:09.62.
