Fourth graders in Suzanne Rosevelt Osborne’s class at Clear Lake are learning their values. Their core democratic values, that is.
Core democratic values are the fundamental beliefs and constitutional principles of American society which unite all Americans.
Each student in Osborne’s class choose their favorite core democratic value and created a poster to illustrate the value. Out of her whole class, Osborne choose three students whose poster was Most Education, Most Persuasive and Most Creative.
Katie Mattiello won Most Creative for her poster about ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.’She said she choose that value because ‘if we didn’t have the core democratic values, we wouldn’t have freedom.?
Leonard Dietrich’s poster about the value of justice won the Most Educational award.
‘No matter what, everyone should be treated fairly in the United States and in everyday life justice will unfold,? he said. Alexa Sindlehurst choose to create a poster about the value of truth and won Most Most Persuasive. She chose to write about truth because it’s what holds our justice system together.
