Susan Bell is simply doing what she loves.
And she’s ecstatic her dedication to her job has led to recent, unexpected recognition.
Bell, a Clarkston resident of five years who admits she has no intention of leaving the area, is a sales representative for big enough clothes, a U.S. designer of children’s “high quality, European-style clothing.”
The mother of two was recently awarded the $6k club award, for her sales achievements during the spring season, at big enough clothes’ semi-annual sales meeting, Aug. 2, at the Detroit Marriott.
“It was a surprise, a bonus to my happiness. I’ve never thought about the money, just how happy I am my kids were wearing the clothes, and they were happy in them.”
Actually, she learned her sales were above $8,000, but big enough has no awards geared for that amount.
“I’m honored to have been recognized for doing work that I love to do,” Bell said. “Winning this award was just one of the many incentives I have received for working with big enough.”
As a representative for big enough, Bell not only earns money, but can earn free clothes and receives a 40 percent discount.
“Like many others working with big enough, I was introduced to the company as a customer. My friends used to sell big enough about five years ago. I loved the clothes.”
“The clothes are comfortable, so kids like to wear them. They wash well. They don’t fade, don’t shrink. And I like the colors. big enough puts outrageous colors together and they look great.” The clothes line is geared for boys and girls age one to 14 and are priced between $22 to $49, Bell said. “It’s boutique clothing without the boutique prices.”
When son Austin, 6, started school at North Sashabaw Elementary, Bell didn’t want her son to look like everyone else.
That’s when she decided to become a sales representative, about a year ago.
Bell was a stay-at-home mom prior. She and husband, Gary, also have a two-year-old son, Lucas.
“I wanted to do something that didn’t take time away from my kids.” In fact, mothers are encouraged to take their children to home shopping parties, and can act as great models for the clothes.
“It’s a perfect opportunity to do something with my life but not take time away from my family.”
Her venture with big enough has been very successful.
“I enjoy it. I don’t think of success as how much money I’m making, but how happy I am. I can earn money on my own time while helping moms pull together fashionable, high-quality wardrobes for their children.”
John Maisano, president of big enough, said, “Representatives such as Susan Bell have played a huge role in our company’s unique success story. We have grown primarily through word of mouth and the enthusiastic efforts of our sales force.”
