Clarkston kids hone skills

On the court …
In what has become a tradition in the first week of summer break, Clarkston head volleyball Coach Kelly Avenall packed the CHS gym with close to 160 kids to teach them the finer points of the game.
‘We try to see what kind of players are out there and cultivate their talent,? said Avenall. ‘Other kids just enjoy playing (at the camp).?
This year the camp was held from June 13-17 and included children from fifth to 12th grade.

For some, Clarkston head baseball Coach Phil Price’s baseball and softball camp, were an opportunity to come full circle.
‘I’ve come to this camp since I was six or seven,? said Mike Navarre, CHS varsity baseball player. ‘It’s a nice feeling to see the kids learning from me.?
From June 13-17, Price and a number of varsity softball and baseball players instructed 73 children, ranging from seven to 13-years-old, in the finer points of the game.
