Jessica Murawski, art teacher at Clarkston Renaissance High School, loves to paint.
‘I became very interested in art during high school. I received my bachelor’s of art in art from Western Michigan University, and I’m a graduate student at Wayne State University inquiring a master’s of art education,? said Murawski. ‘I have always had a huge passion for art.?
Murawski recently took her passion and turned towards a special project ? CarTunes on Parade.
Being an involved metro-Detroit artist, Murawski came across an application to submit a maquette for the CarTunes on Parade contest. She thought the competition would be a fun and amazing opportunity.
‘I never expected to have mine accepted, and was ecstatic when I received sponsorship from Detroit/Windsor Tunnel,? said Murawski.
CarTunes on Parade is a distinctive outdoor art exhibition taking place in Detroit and Windsor from June 1- September 30, featuring over 120 international artists.
This is the first international public art show of the kind. Detroit sculptures are located in the Cultural Center/Midtown area, downtown, and along the riverfront; while Windsor sculptures are located in the city center and along the riverfront. Murawski’s car is located just outside of Duty Free on the Windsor side.
‘My car’s style is very pop bright, bold colors and eclectic patterns. For the windows of the car, I chose to enlarge black and white paintings I took last summer of Detroit, decoupage them to the windows, and add a bit of paint to give it an authentic look,? said Murawski.
Assuming the art show will run again next year, Murawski says she would love to participate.
