Brandon’s varsity hockey team, which has already clinched the Flint Metro League championship, remains undefeated in league play.
Matt Cinader notched a hat trick for the Blackhawks, including the game-winning goal with 6:25 left in the third period, as the Blackhawks defeated host Linden 3-2 in a Feb. 16 contest. Brandon is now 13-8 overall and 10-0 in the league.
The Blackhawks scored the first goal of the game with 4:42 left in the first, as Cinader scored his first goal of the game on assists from Kyle Doan and Brandon Newman. Brandon increased their lead to 2-0 when Cinader scored a shorthanded goal with 12:14 left in the second period, on an assist from Blake McLelland.
However, Linden’s power play was responsible for the Eagles getting back in the game, as they scored two goals with the one-man advantage, one each in the second and third periods, to tie the game at two.
