There’s a saying that goes: If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.
But in some cases it might be wise just to give it up.
Two men learned this lesson on the night of Jan. 16, when, according to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Department report, they attempted to break into the BP Gas Station at 605 Lapeer Road, but couldn’t gain access.
The men were later successful in a similar mission at the Sunoco Gas Station, at 3901 Lapeer, but video security records caught one of the men on tape.
Both men were later arrested by police after being spotted in their Grand Am on Perry Street in Pontiac.
The suspects arrested are Kim McNeal, 44, of Detroit and Darrin Russ, 40, of Pontiac. Both have long criminal records.
Rush was just released from a Virginia prison where he served time for a drug charge.
The men were arraigned on Jan. 17, and are being held at the Oakland County Jail on $30,000 bonds.
Video showed one of the men doing a ‘smash and grab? of a large amount of cigarette cartons, and over $1,700 was recovered in stolen cigarettes from the men.
The men are both charged with breaking and entering of a business, a ten year felony and attempted breaking and entering of a business, a five year felony.
Nothing was reported missing from the BP Gas Station, but the glass door was broken.
