Churches, organizations and individuals continue their efforts around the community to raise money for the Schrauger Family Fund.
On Oct. 14, the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and the North Oakland Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans hosted a benefit lunch.
The lunch raised $6,074 to benefit the Schraugers, and over 200 individuals attended the luncheon.
According to Good Shepherd, the lunch was made possible from donations from various local businesses as all food was donated. The church thanked Christi’s Bar and Grill, Hamlin Pub, Gordon Food Service, Caramagno Foods, Leonard Syrups, Costco, Harvest Time, Mannino Produce, Fairway Packing Co., New Modern Bakery, Victoria’s Delights and Planet’s Pizza for their contributions.
That same weekend, the LOBOS Soccer Club and the Lake Orion Soccer Club joined together to raise funds in support of the Schrauger family.
LOBOS Soccer Club Chairman Steve Alliston and LOSC President Matt Paukovits are continuing to work together in support of the community and the Schrauger family.
‘The idea to do this was first brought up by Joe St. Henry, a parent that has a child playing for the LOSC. Joe sent both Matt and myself an email with the idea. Matt and I spoke by phone and immediately agreed to support the fundraiser for the Schrauger family,? said Alliston.
Every player donated a $1 for every goal scored during their weekend games. Each of the soccer clubs also donated money to the fundraiser. Together, they raised $2,600.
‘The tragic deaths of Tim and Josua impacted the entire area, not just Lake Orion,? Alliston said. ‘When parents from some of the other teams that LOBOS team were playing found out that we were doing this fundraiser, they came over and donated money as well.?
‘As a community, this horrible accident affected all of us,? Paukovits added.
‘This is an example of what can be done when you work together. Our kids go to school together, play against each other and most will eventually be teammates in the future. This was a great way to team up and help out our neighbors in their time of need.?
