Clarkston alumnists Jamie Gove (?03) and Caitlin McLean (?04) were presented with first year varsity award certificates on May 18 for their play on the Albion College varsity softball team. The awards were presented by their coach Michelle Manning.
Gove and McLean are two peas in a pod when they talk about their team.
‘There was not a single person on the team that was a sore thumb,? said McLean. ?(The transition from high school) was not as difficult as I thought it would be because it was made easier by the girls I played with.?
‘I’ve never been on a team that has gelled so well,? said Gove.
McLean, a freshman, started 32 games for the Britons, mostly as a left fielder.
Gove, a sophomore, started 35 games in the infield and batted .225 with a double and eight RBI’s.
?(Playing for Albion) gave me a chance to get to know (Gove) even better,? said McLean about her former CHS teammate.
?(McLean) and I looked to each other for confidence. We know each other so well we know how to pick each other up when we’re down,? said Gove.
Gove is majoring in Physical Education and English with concentrations in education.
McLean is part of the honors business program in the Gerstacker Institute at Albion College and is an economics and management major with a double major in Spanish.
