Christmas parade rolls thru downtown Saturday

Sleigh bells will be ringing this Saturday, Dec. 2 for the Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Christmas Parade through downtown Oxford.
The parade, with a ‘Winter Wonderland? theme, will start at 2 p.m. on Mechanic St., travel north on S. Washington St. to East St. where it turns and heads east, ending at Mill St.
A total of 47 entries will be featured in the parade, including a Santa’s Workshop float from Scout Pack 44, a 75-foot self motorized train from the Lake Orion Lioness Club and a brass band on the Salvation Army Echo Grove Camp float.
Local Brownie, Girl and Boy Scout troops will also be featured in the parade , as well as floats from the Metamora K-9 Rescue League, Oxford Women’s Club and the Wells Fargo Stage Coach with horses.
The Oxford High School marching band will play some tunes, while students from Kerry’s Dance Stages will entertain the crowd with their moves.
Making an appearance this year will be Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and their live reindeer, courtesy of Rooftop Landing Reindeer Farm in Pewamo.
The reindeer and Santa will be available to visit with kids and pose for photos in Centennial Park at 3:30 p.m.
