Chief Pontiac falls to Stevensville in playoffs

Darkness came at the wrong time for the American Legion Post 377 Chief Pontiac baseball team. Chief Pontiac had a 5-4 lead after three innings over Stevensville team in the American Legion State Tournament semifinals on August 4 when the game was postponed due to darkness.
The game was resumed at 8 a.m. the next day and Stevensville was able to come out on top and eliminate Chief Pontiac with a 17-8 victory.
The lose came after an 11-3 victory over the Berkley American Legion team on August 4.
Chief Pontiac was tied with Berkley 3-3 in the second inning when Josh Ruggeri came in as a relief pitcher. Ruggeri did not allow another run to earn the win.
Midland defeated Chief Pontiac 10-4 in the first game of the tournament on August 3.
