The Oxford varsity competitive cheer team made fourth place in their pool at their first competition last Saturday despite a team member being ill.
Coach Alanna Stockley said she’s glad her girls got their first competition under their belt and that they ‘really learned our strengths and weaknesses and really came together as a team? as a result.
‘We had to come together as a team because we had a girl with the flu,? Stockley said. ‘But it made us work together to be a stronger team.?
Stockley said her girls will focus on cleaning up their rounds by making them ‘crisper? and work on their back tucks, back walkovers, back handsprings and timing for their second round skills.
They will also be adding more stunts for their third round skills. The girls will travel to Lapeer East on Jan. 6 for their next competition.
