2004 CDBG funds spoken for: On Monday, Nov. 17, the township board approved allocations of more than $44,000 in Community Development Block Grant Funds.
In 2004 Brandon Twp residents will benefit from $3,500 of the CDBG funds donated to H.A.V.E.N., a public service that lends assistance to battered and abused spouses.
The Brandon-Groveland Youth Assistance services will received $8,400 of the funding allocations.
The Brandon Township Senior Center will receive $2,400 to continue their monthly newsletter for more than 1,700 area seniors.
The senior center will also receive $12,000 for purchase and installation of an emergency generator.
The historic preservation society will receive $12,283 to continue repairs on the Old Mill.
More than $5,000 will be allocated to general public service funds for emergency food, clothing, and financial aid to the approximately 62 low to moderate income township resident households.
The Michigan CDBG program was set up to assist cities, townships, and villages of less than 50,000 in population to promote and assist low to medium income residents to lower distressed infrastructural needs.
Special use for car dealership approved:
The Planning Commission approved a request by Don Short, of Brandon Clarkston Auto Glass to establish a used car dealership at 1665 Ortonville Road, limiting the dealership to display only five cars on the lot.
