Call it fate, coincidence, or just plane luck for Scott Cotter, owner of CB’s Superior Party Store, he was in right place at the right time to be a contributing member of rural Lakeville life.
‘I’m looking forward to the journey here,? Cotter said.
Lakeville’s newest convenience store is located at 1400 Rochester Road.
Convenience being his operative objective, in the few short weeks CB’s Superior Party Store has been open Cotter has been designing a store to fit the community.
‘I open my ears up to meet the people,? Cotter said. ‘The more I talk with them the more I am able to design a menu for everybody in the neighborhood.?
‘The idea is to provide food and have basic general merchandise. With the information of my survey I can start out with a good platform.?
Cotter has been doing business in Lakeville for more than 15 years and recently moved to the area with the idea of catering to the community he now calls home.
‘I’m happy with living in this area because it’s the most rural part of the county and I have a fair connection of what the people in this area want,? he said as he greets several customers by name.
Welcomed by the smell of his fresh signature barbecue chicken pizza, CB’s Superior Party Store customers are offered a full line of lunch and dinner items. If veggie lasagna, meatballs, or mac and cheese are not your fancy, Cotter also offers a full line of deli goods for the sandwich of your choice. From propane and Band Aids to pitas and potatoes, Cotter said he will continue adding items to CB’s Superior Party Store to satisfy the basic needs of the community.
‘You have a variety of people in the area and I would like to bring a balance to everybody,? he said.
Good business sense tells Cotter that patience, hard work, sacrifice, and luck will bring success to both the store and the neighborhood, but delivery will bring personal service to his customers.
‘There are a lot of seniors out there and we will deliver,? he smiled. ‘From two eggs and a newspaper to a half gallon of milk and a bag of Skittles, we’ll get it to them.?
The CB stands for Cotter and boys. A father of two boys, 17 and 18 years old, Cotter said he recognizes the importance of contributing to a sense of community and is impressed with the supportive commitment of area volunteer groups like library friends and the senior center food program.
Eager to provide his share of assistance, CB’s Superior Party Store has already contributed both food and finances to area drives.
‘Being a part of the community is more than just being here, making money and then going home,? he said.
‘It’s my responsibility as a neighbor to help out and hopefully set an example in my corner of the world.?
Further Cotter says although his sons are helping run the business right now, he’s hoping to employ area teens in need of work.
‘There are kids in this community who need jobs and we’ll provide whatever the business will support,? he said as he warmly greets local resident Jimmy Boley, the first of what Cotter hopes to be many employees he hires from the area.
