If the Oxford Varsity boy’s basketball team can pull it together for a win against Fenton at this Friday’s Winterfest game, it’ll be their first win since Jan. 14.
The Cagers lost to Holly Monday night 50-57. Poor free throw shooting and turnovers plagued Oxford in the first half resulting in a 20-16 deficit at halftime.
Senior captain Zach Tilley led with 20 points in the second half, while senior captain Chris Keenist had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Senior captain Rick rady scored nine points and sophomore Mike Bertling scored four.
‘Holly is probably the most talented team in the league, but we competed really well and a couple of possessions was the difference in the game,? said Coach Steve Laidlaw.
On Friday, the Cats lost to Swartz Creek 46-56. Keenist led the team with 15 points and seven rebounds, and Brady had six points, Tilley had 13 points and sophomore Gary Wurtz had four rebounds.
The Cats are now 4-9 overall and 3-9 in the Flint Metro League. They take on Fenton at home Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
