Hopeful ticket buyers filled John Bowman Chevrolet, April 27, watching 9-year-old Sophie Wirth reach into the hopper, rummage through the 4,329 entries, and draw the winner of a 2013 Corvette Coupe.
Ronald Stiefel of Dearborn Heights was the lucky winner of the car, along with $50,000, in Easter Seals Michigan’s 59th Car Raffle Fundraiser.
“John Bowman does a wonderful job for us every year,” said Jonn Kersten, president of Century 21 Town & Country and MC at the event. “We raised $875,000 last year, putting us over the $12 million mark.”
Easter Seals Michigan started offering new car raffles nearly 20 years ago.
The drawing at John Bowman Chevrolet, 6750 Dixie Highway, was its first this year. Proceeds help children, teens, adults, seniors or veterans of all ages with disabilities lead more independent lives.
