Goodrich – Car and motorcycle enthusiasts will be joining a local housing company next Saturday to raise funds for children with cancer.
The second annual ‘Cruising for Cancer? classic car and bike charity event will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 7 at empty sites in the Goodrich Meadows development, located off M-15 near the Goodrich Post Office.
A ‘soft spot for kids? is what prompted the fund-raiser, said Symphony Homes Spokesperson Kim Schempf.
Thanks to contributors like the Goodrich Country Club and Cranberries Cafe, 100 percent of the proceeds will go to benefit the children of Hurley’s Pediatric Oncology unit.
In addition to classic cars and motorcycles, the event will feature a free moonwalk for kids and entertainment by well-known disc jockey Bob Steel, of Supertalk 1570 a.m.’s ‘Cruisin? with Bob? talk show.
‘This is a wonderful community and we’re trying to have some involvement for a good cause,? said Symphony Homes representative Ed Thompson, who both lives and works in Goodrich. ‘We appreciate anybody who comes out and supports it.?
Hot dogs, pop, and popcorn will also be sold to raise funds and raffles will be held.
Ten car trophies and five motorcycle trophies will be awarded, said Schempf. On-site registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Registration for vehicles is $10, but admission to the event is free.
