Groveland Twp. – The driver of a Camaro ‘weaving all over the road’didn’t recall being involved in two accidents.
Two witnesses in a car that was nearly struck by the suspect on July 15 followed the 1987 black Chevrolet Camaro as it sped northbound on Dixie Highway near Oakhill Road, and witnessed the Caramo’s involvement in an accident.
After watching the car take off ‘engulfed in smoke? the two stopped at the Groveland post of the Michigan State Police Department about 7 p.m. to advise Trooper Nate Ellis.
Two other witnesses notified police they had been rear-ended by the Camaro.
Ellis observed the suspect weaving back and forth between the dirt shoulder and center line of Grange Hall Road before coming to a stop near Van Road.
The driver, a 33-year-old Waterford man, initially denied drinking or being involved in accidents.
After failing to complete sobriety tests, the suspect stated he was ‘very sorry for striking the two vehicles from behind, but didn’t know where (the accidents) happened, or who was involved.?
The driver claimed he had only a ‘couple of beers?, and had drunk the last beer early in the afternoon.
The suspect was arrested and lodged in the Oakland County Jail.
