After throwing a complete game and striking out six of Brandon’s players, Oxford varsity baseball coach Kurt Nuss attributes Monday’s 12-3 win to senior pitcher Jeremy Bukoski.
Senior Vinnie Ives also lent a hand by being 4-4 at the plate, with four RBI’s and two triples. Junior Kyle Teague had three hits and three RBI’s, while juniors Russell Luxton and Eric Turk contributed two hits a piece.
‘The team came out and competed hard,? Nuss said. ‘We saw and hit the ball well and had a very solid defensive effort overall.?
Being that Brandon was the team’s first Flint Metro League game of the season, Nuss said the boys were ready to pick up the intensity and aggressiveness levels.
‘Our league is very competitive and we have to have this type of effort every game if we are to reach the goals we have set for ourselves,? he said.
Game two against Brandon was suspended due to darkness at 6-6 and will resume at a later date.
The Wildcats are now 7-3 overall and 1-0 in FML. They travel to Swartz Creek on Thursday for a 4 p.m. game.
