Brothers go to hospital after jet ski hits dock

Two brothers, ages 16 and 11, were transported to Troy Beaumont Hospital on Sunday after the personal watercraft they were riding struck a dock on Long Lake.
The accident occurred about 5:15 p.m. on Aug. 24. According to Deputy Luke of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department Marine Division, the 16-year-old was operating the watercraft while his brother rode with him on the back.
“When you operate a personal watercraft, and you let off the gas, you lose steering control,” he said. “They came in too fast and struck a dock.”
Luke said both boys were treated at the scene by Orion Fire and Rescue, and were then transported in stable condition to Beaumont Hospital via ambulance.
“Their injuries were mostly lacerations,” said Luke.
