Brandon’s Manning to play volleyball at Schoolcraft College

On the cusp of graduation day, Stephenie Manning made a decision about her college future.
The Brandon High School senior signed a letter of intent May 24 to play volleyball at Schoolcraft College in Livonia. The scholarship is a two-year full-ride scholarship.
Manning, 18, was a three-year member of Brandon’s varsity volleyball team, playing at the middle hitter and right-side hitter position. Although she said she had a couple of other offers, she felt Schoolcraft was the right choice for her.
‘My best friend went there, and I was introduced to the coach (Tom Teeters) about a year ago,? said Manning, who plans to major in pre-medicine.
After spending her sophomore and junior years under Coach Kim Rackel, Manning played this year under first-year coach Brian Williams. She said that experience helped her get ready for the next level.
‘I’ll be ready for any coaching style,? she said.
Manning is the daughter of Cheryl and Stan Woolard of Ortonville, and has two older sisters, Jennifer and Rachel, both Brandon graduates.
‘I’m really proud of her,? Cheryl Woolard said of Manning.
