‘Boys Recreational Basketball for 3rd-6th graders:
Enrollment for Boys? Recreational Basketball is now open. This instructional program enables everyone to participate in instructional drills and team scrimmages. Cost is $60 for residents and $70 for nonresidents.
?3rd and 4th graders meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. beginning Wednesday, Jan. 18 at Brandon Middle School.
?5th and 6th graders meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. beginning Thursday, Jan. 19 at Brandon Middle School.
All players are required to wear a ‘Shooting Stars? reversible basketball jersey. These are $17 each and available for purchase at the Brandon Township Recreation office. The deadline for registration is Wednesday, Jan. 11. Late registrants must pay an additional late fee of $10.

‘Pee Wee Sports Camp for 4-6 years:
Participants in this coed program will be introduced to various sports such as kickball, T-ball, soccer, basketball, floor hockey, volleyball, flag football, or gymnastics. Team play, sportsmanship and motor skill development will be emphasized in five fun-filled sessions. This program is designed for four to six-year olds and is taught by Brandon Township’s own Matt Venturino. Participation is limited to the first 40 registrations per session. Registrations received after the Jan. 6, 2006 deadline will be charged a $10 late fee, if openings remain. Each participant receives a Pee Wee Sports Camp T-shirt!

‘Youth Sports Camp for 7-10 years:
This five-week coed sports camp meets on Saturdays at Harvey-Swanson Elementary School. Each Saturday, young athletes will learn new techniques as well as have an opportunity to practice established skills. Activities may include volleyball, floor hockey, basketball, baseball and soccer. Each participant will receive a ‘Youth Sports Camp? T-shirt. Enrollment is limited to the first 40 registrants. A $10 late fee will be charged after the Jan. 6, 2006 registration deadline if openings remain.

‘Casino Windsor:
Join us Feb. 2, 2006 for a day trip to Canada’s Casino Windsor. The cost of $10 includes round-trip motorcoach transportation and a casino package voucher worth $15 (subject to change). To secure your spot, submit your payment of $10 per person as soon as possible to Brandon Township Recreation, P.O. Box 929, 395 Mill Street, Ortonville, MI 48462. ‘Ski & Snowboard Club:
Brandon Township Recreation is accepting registrations for the 2006 Ski & Snowboard Club. Brandon School District students in 5th-12th grades are eligible to register for this after-school program that offers transportation to and from Mt. Holly and lift tickets for five Fridays. Club dates are Jan. 13, 20, 27, Feb. 3 and 10, 2006. Cost of $100 includes one Student Snowboard or Student Ski Discount card which is good at either Mt. Holly or Pine Knob for the entire 2005-06 season. Ski & Snowboard Club packets are available in the school offices and at the Brandon Township Recreation office. Student and Adult Discount ID cards are also available at the Recreation office for $14 each. The deadline for Ski & Snowboard Club registration is Friday, Jan. 6, 2006.
‘MRPA Hoop Shoot & Free Throw Contest:
Attention boys and girls ages 8 through 15 ? the Michigan Recreation & Park Association’s annual Hoop Shoot is returning to Brandon Township. If you have a good shot, this competition is for you. Co-sponsored by our local Rotary Club and Brandon Township Recreation, this event is free. The top contestant moves on to a regional contest (regional date and location TBA). Each participant receives a certificate of participation. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons will be awarded. The Knights of Columbus will be running their Free Throw Contest at the same time and place, providing participants with yet another shot at stardom. This event is open to boys and girls from 8-15 years as of Dec. 31, 2006.

‘Boys? League Basketball for 7th through 12th Grades:
Boys? League is for boys who play with a competitive edge. All games are governed by MHSAA rules, with some modifications. Everyone plays. Teams of twelve will be selected at the first session. This league is parent-coached, so let us know when you register if you would like to coach your son’s team. All players are required to wear a ‘Shooting Stars? reversible basketball jersey, available for purchase at the Brandon Township Recreation office. Limit of 48 participants. Dates are TBA.
