Brandon’s girls tennis team finished in the middle of the pack at the Flint Metro League meet Sept. 28 at Holly.
The Blackhawks snagged one runner-up finish and four third-place finishes on their way to finishing third overall with 20 points.
The host Bronchos won the meet with 40 points, while Fenton finished second with 27 points.
Monica Lambert earned Brandon’s runner-up finish at #2 singles, losing to Holly’s Michelle Leone 6-0, 6-0 in the championship match. Danie Ashford was the other Brandon singles competitor to place at the meet, finishing third at #3 singles.
Earning third-place finishes in doubles action for Brandon were Lauren Dixon and Annmarie Solley (#2 doubles), Anne McCabe and Marilee Rump (#3 doubles), and Susan Gajdos and Laura Kwiatkowski (#4 doubles).
The Blackhawks were successful in their last dual meet of the season Oct. 4 against Swartz Creek, earning a 7-1 win.
Lambert (#2 singles), Ashford (#3 singles), and Jill Perry (#4 singles) earned wins for the Blackhawks in singles action, while Holly Gerber and Lynsey Crain (#1 doubles), Sarah Bond and Megan Ostrowski (#2 doubles), Dixon and Solley (#3 doubles), and Gajdos and Kwiatowski (#4 doubles) were triumphant in doubles competition.
Last month, the Blackhawks suffered two setbacks in dual meet action, losing to Davison 6-2 on Sept. 23 and 8-0 to Holly on Sept. 21.
