Brandon’s varsity girls tennis team evened their league record at 1-1 with an 8-0 victory against Clio Tuesday, Sept. 12.
In singles action, Jessica DeVoogd defeated Ashley Wagner at #1 singles 6-1, 6-1; Brittany Barber defeated Katherine Brown at #2 singles 6-4, 2-6, 6-1; Hanna Hubbard defeated Jenny McKenna at #3 singles 6-1, 6-1; and Rachel Hartwig defeated Alisha Berger at #4 singles 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles action, Lauren Dixon and Shannon Elliot defeated Kayla Stevens and Jordan Zeek at #1 doubles 6-0, 6-1; Stacey Brooks and Ashley Adams defeated Caitlin Calcutt and Lisa Sather at #2 doubles 6-3, 6-1; Emily Fluck and Samantha Adams defeated Ashley Pope and Bridget Fernada at #3 doubles 6-1, 6-1; and Natalie Barth and Sheree Ogle defeated Cynthia Lloyd and Sarah Stroope at #4 doubles 6-1, 6-0.
The Blackhawks also battled to a 4-4 tie against Lakeland in a Sept. 11 matchup.
Lakeland won three of four singles flights during their contest, with Brandon’s lone singles win coming in the #4 bracket. By contrast, the Blackhawks took three of four doubles flights.
