Brandon’s varsity girls team experienced an up-and-down week in recent action.
In their most recent matchup, the host Blackhawks dropped a Flint Metro League contest 5-3 to Fenton on Sept. 8. The Tigers swept all four singles flights, while Brandon took three of four doubles flights.
In doubles action, Annemarie Solley and Lauren Dixon defeated Jackie Jorgensen and Katie Wick at #1 doubles 6-3, 3-6, 6-4; Emily Holder and Laura Kwiatkowski defeated Alyson Zimbler and Catie O’Neill at #3 doubles 6-4, 7-6(4); and Brittany Barber and Shannon Elliott defeated Lisa Averill and Emily Keller at #4 doubles 6-2, 6-1.
Brandon also dropped a 7-1 matchup against Lake Orion Sept. 7, with the Blackhawks? only win coming at #1 doubles, where the team of Dixon and Solley defeated Vanessa FonBuena and Jennifer Bandico 6-3, 6-3.
The Blackhawks got on the winning side of the ledger Sept. 6, defeating league rival Lapeer East 6-2. Brandon split the singles flights with the Eagles and swept all four doubles flights.
Monica Lambert defeated Melissa Masters at #1 singles 6-0, 6-2, and Lynsey Crain defeated Laura Ligeski at #2 singles 6-1, 7-5.
In doubles competition, Dixon and Solley defeated Brittney Hutton and Carrie Rymiszewski at #1 doubles 6-3, 6-0; Marilee Rump and Hanna Hubbard defeated Erin Chase and Courtney Fraim at #2 doubles 7-5, 7-6(3); Megan Ostrowski and Emily Fluck defeated Leanna Milks and Kristin Tomczyk at #3 doubles 7-5, 6-4; and Elliott and Holder defeated Lacey Benton and Ashleigh Stone at #4 doubles 6-0, 6-0.
