Despite another stellar performance by senior Derek Foyt, the Brandon varsity football team was overmatched in its final game of the season.
The playoff-bound Montrose Rams, a member of the Genesee Area Conference, simply had too much firepower for the visiting Blackhawks, earning a 44-14 win in an Oct. 22 contest.
With the win, the Rams improved to 8-1 on the season, while the Blackhawks finished the season 3-6 overall and 2-4 in Flint Metro League play.
Foyt rushed 22 times for 186 yards, and scored two touchdowns. Montrose built a 26-0 halftime lead before Foyt scored his first touchdown of the game from one yard out.
The Brandon senior scored his second touchdown of the game (and final one of his Brandon career) from 66 yards out in the fourth quarter.
Senior Matt Rife, also playing his final game at Brandon, led the Blackhawks on defense with 17 tackles.
