Brandon girls tennis blanked by Flushing

Brandon’s girls tennis team ran into a buzzsaw Monday, Aug. 25.
In their opening dual meet of the season, the Blackhawks were swept by visiting Flushing 8-0 in nonconference action. Flushing, who also competed in their first full meet of the season, defeated Brandon in straight sets in both singles and doubles competition.
In singles action, Melissa Taylor defeated Nicole Barth at #1 singles, 6-2, 6-2; Abby Pougnet defeated Jessica Sanday at #2 singles, 6-4, 6-2; Michelle Marinelli defeated Elizabeth Bilbey at #3 singles, 6-1, 6-4; and Natalie Gaier defeated Monica Lambert at #4 singles, 6-4, 6-1.
In doubles play, Megan Flint and Amy Abbott defeated Michelle Ashford and Nicole Schuhrke at #1 doubles, 7-5, 6-4; Matti Tuuri and Kari Carnell defeated Danie Ashford and Amanda Bohr at #2 doubles, 6-1, 6-0; Julie Kehoe and Jessica Stone defeated Christa Nedry and Holly Gerber at #3 doubles, 6-2, 6-2; and Lindsay Randall and Kathleen Farah defeated Lisa Stack and Susan Gajdos at #4 doubles, 6-0, 6-0.
