The Brandon girls basketball team will be a target for its Flint Metro opponents this season.
The Blackhawks, who are the defending league champions, split their first two Flint Metro contests of the season, leaving them at 1-6 overall and 1-1 in league play.
In their most recent game, Brandon could never get untracked Sept. 16 as host Waterford Kettering easily defeated the Blackhawks 42-23.
The Captains took a 20-9 lead into halftime. After the third quarter, Kettering retained a 32-22 lead, and Brandon only scored one more point the rest of the way.
Meg Donnay led the Blackhawks with eight points, while Jessica Liebner added six.
The Blackhawks came from behind in their Flint Metro opener to earn their first win of the season, defeating host Lapeer East 41-31 on Sept. 11.
Brandon trailed 18-16 at the half but rallied to outscore East 12-6 in the third quarter to take a 28-24 lead at the end of the period, and held on for the win.
Lauhnna Waybrant scored 17 points, including six-for-six from the free throw line, to lead the Blackhawks. Savannah Stedman added eight points.
The Blackhawks host Waterford Mott Sept. 23 at 7 p.m.
