Brandon cagers hope to right ship

With one regular-season game left before the start of districts, the Brandon varsity basketball team is hoping to shake that losing feeling.
The Blackhawks lost two games within a week’s span, including a 66-58 loss to host Haslett, ranked fourth in Class B, in a Feb. 28 game. The loss dropped the Blackhawks to 15-4 this season.
Haslett took command of the game in the first half, taking a 43-23 lead at halftime. The Blackhawks did their best to come back in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Vikings.
Erik Allar led the Blackhawks with 18 points, while Adam Howard added 10.
In their final Flint Metro League game Feb. 24, the Blackhawks, who had already clinched the Flint Metro League championship by that point, lost 53-38 to Lapeer West.
