Brandon and Linden will have to wait another day to face each other in varsity basketball action on the Blackhawks? home court.
Their scheduled Jan. 17 game was postponed and rescheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 31 at Brandon.
Brandon Athletic Director Larry Lamphere said the game was cancelled due to weather concerns, particularly the condition of the back roads that students and parents use to travel to and from the Brandon High School gymnasium.
Four days earlier, the Blackhawks took sole command of the Flint Metro with a 64-52 win against Lapeer East in a Jan. 13 game. Brandon improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the league.
After taking a 22-15 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Blackhawks were outscored 19-5 in the second quarter as the Eagles took a 34-27 lead at halftime. However, the Blackhawks took command of the game in the second half for the win.
Adam Howard and Adrain Harges proved to be a potent one-two combination for the Blackhawks, with Howard scoring 20 points and Harges 19, including an 8-of-9 performance from the free throw line.
