After one quarter against visiting Flint Northwestern Feb. 19, the Brandon basketball team had things going their way.
Unfortunately for the Blackhawks, the Wildcats rallied and took command of the game in the second and third quarters on their way to a 46-39 win. Brandon’s record dropped to 6-11.
The Blackhawks raced out in front after the first quarter, 15-4, but the two teams nearly reversed fortunes in the second quarter, with Northwestern outscoring the Blackhawks 12-4 in that period. Brandon held a 19-16 lead at halftime.
The Wildcats came all the way back in the third, outscoring the Blackhawks 18-7 to take a 34-26 lead at the end of the period.
Gjon Nicaj led the Blackhawks with 15 points, while Derek Luna led the victorious Wildcats with 17.
The Blackhawks return to action Mar. 2 when they host Lapeer West at 7:30 p.m.
