Led by Adam Hyde and Jonee Harris, the Brandon boys track team started the year on the right foot.
The visiting Blackhawks soundly defeated Waterford Kettering 82.5 to 42.5, capturing 10 events on their way to winning the meet.
Hyde won the 110 meter high hurdles in 17.3 seconds and the 300 meter intermediate hurdles in 43.6 seconds. Meanwhile, Harris won the 100 meter (11.9) and 200 meter dashes (24.5).

Brandon competitors finishing in second place were: Mark Westphal in the 110 meter high hurdles, Crandell in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes, Reed in the 1600 meter and 800 meter runs, Ledgerwood in the 300 meter hurdles, Mike Via in the discus, Ryan Smith in the high jump, and Ledgerwood in the long jump.
Third place finishers were: Preston in the 100 meter dash, Smith in the 400 meter dash, Jordan Wingett in the discus, Stewart Olney in the high jump, Dylan Kent in the long jump, and Josh Papineau in the shot put.
After returning from Easter break, the Blackhawks travel to New Lothrop April 17 for the New Lothrop Invitational, where they will defend their championship from last year.
