Brandon boys swimmers notch second at Mt. Morris Relays

Brandon’s varsity boys swimming team got off to a solid start at the Mt. Morris Relays Saturday, Dec. 3.
The Blackhawks finished second at the meet behind the combined Swartz Creek-Flushing team, which dominated the contest with 117 points. Brandon finished second with 83, and captured first place in two events.
The Blackhawks? mixed 400 yard medley relay team of Tyler Walls, Tyson DeLandsheer, Tyler Cole and Brad MacIntyre won in a time of 5:01.45, easily defeating second-place Ovid-Elsie (5:35.21), while the mixed 1-meter diving tandem of David Donnay and Zac Cotton edged Swartz Creek-Flushing for first place, 127.30-124.
In addition, the Blackhawks bolstered their cause with second-place showings in three events. Finishing as runners-up in their events were: the mixed 200 yard medley relay team of Kyle Worden, DeLandsheer, Cole and Josh Collier (2:11.58); the mixed 200 yard breaststroke relay team of DeLandsheer, Jon Soave, Kyle Larner and Tyler Gorney (2:40.39) and the mixed 400 yard freestyle relay team Brian Swenson, Cotton, MacIntyre and Collier (4:31.03).
Brandon finished third in the 400 yard medley relay (5:19.73), the mixed 200 yard butterfly relay (2:25.30), the mixed 850 yard freestyle relay (11:12.53) and the mixed 200 yard backstroke relay (2:26.55).
