The Brandon School District is just a little greener these days’by $2,000.
Spearheaded by Brandon Middle School technology teacher Jennifer Brady, the district was recently awarded four-$500 Greening Michigan Classroom Grants. The grants parallel the district’s green initiative to inspire all students to ‘Go Blue Live Green.?
The Michigan Public Service Commission awarded a grant to Energy Works Michigan, for the Michigan Renewable Schools Program. The program is implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy measures at public and private K-12 schools throughout the state. As part of the program, Energy Works is promoting green initiatives at K-12 schools through the Greening Michigan Classrooms Grant.
The Brandon District was one of 46 schools statewide to receive the grant.
The Energy Works Michigan Grant Winners:
nBrandon High School: Brandon STEM Pathways Academy, Andrew Spiece’Video equipment for students to create a promotional video to share with other students about green initiatives.
nBrandon Middle School: Jennifer Brady’Organic sustainable garden and video to introduce a sustainability program.
nBrandon High School: Judith McCall’Recycle bins to become a completely non-landfill district.
nHT Burt Life Long Learning Center’Pam Schoemer-Recycle bins and informational posters to encourage students to recycle.
