With the dual meet season just around the next bend, Clarkston boys cross country Coach Mike Taylor is guardedly optimistic about his team’s prospects.
‘It’s show up and run time or sit down and go home time,? said Taylor.
Following a second place finish in the lower division of the Cavalier Classic on Sept. 1, Clarkston ran well enough for fifth place in the West Bloomfield Invitational on Sept. 10.
The Wolves medalist at West Bloomfield was Hazen Brennan. Taylor also lauded Ed Brennan and Chris Anderson’s performances on the day.
‘We haven’t had a meet yet where all of our varsity guys have run well. That’s something we are going to have to work on,? said Taylor. ‘We are a better team than we were last year, but that means there is more pressure on everyone.?
Clarkston has one more ‘tune-up? opportunity in the Chesaning Invitational on Sept. 15. The Wolves will host a tri-meet on Sept. 20 featuring a tough Seaholm team and Rochester High School.
