The Oxford varsity bowling teams are very proud of their hard work after they attended their first ever Northern Lakes Conference tournament last Sunday at Cherry Hill Lanes in Clarkston.
After a slow start, and a loss to the eventual tournament winner, Walled Lake Northern, the boys team got rolling.
They defeated Lake Orion in a close five-game match, and then defeated Waterford Kettering to take fifth place.
The girls team shot some of their best games of the year, but the competition was too tough to pull out any victories.
The JV team started their tournament at Sunnybrook Lanes in Sterling Heights with 10 bowlers trying to get into the top 32 positions, but only one, freshman Michael Maygar, qualified 13th overall.
Maygar bowled games of 237, 193, 224 and set a new personal best with his 654 series.
Although he rolled a solid 190 game in the first round, he was elimintated by a bowler from Shelby.
Other bowlers who had nice games were Trent Heichel (231), Steven Lafnear (190), Ross Hadden (191), Ben Griggs (200), Rob Martin (193), Brandon Burgess (199) and Chris Schmalz (202).
The teams will compete in regional games in Grand Blanc this weekend.
