The Oxford High School Varsity Bowling Club wrapped-up their first season Feb. 19 and ended up with three wins and seven losses.
The team’s last match, held in Waterford, proved to be an exciting game, according to Coach J.R. Lafnear.
Oxford’s team won twice over their rival, Lake Orion, which Lafnear said was the highlight of the season.
‘It went down to the last frame, but we had some punch bowling in the 10th frame,? he said.
James Roberts threw numerous strikes and beat his oponent, which Lafnear said helped ‘seal the deal.?
Other outstanding bowlers were Brendan Wheeler, A.J. Mclarty and Brandon Burgess.
The bowling club will compete in May at the state tournament in Sterling Heights, but Lafnear said they shouldn’t be too stressed out over it.
‘I just want them to perform as best as they can and just enjoy it and get ready for next season,? he said.
Right now, the team has three girl bowlers and they’re looking for more next season.
The team wants to give a big ‘thank you? to Collier Lanes for supporting them throughout this season.
